Certainty in the Uncertainty

Hey Reader,

This season I used the phrase “there's a lot of uncertainty” countless times. If you've been following along with my past newsletters, you know that I experienced a miscarriage, huge financial struggles, and constant rejections to secure a government contract for my org.

If I had to name this season, I'd call it uncertain.

However, this week i'm reminded that God is certain even in the midst of what I deem to be uncertain. I can always count on Him to be exactly who He says He is. He’s the same today, tomorrow, and forevermore.

In Mark 6:45-52, Jesus had just finished feeding the five thousand and instructed His disciples to go ahead of Him on a boat to Bethsaida while He dismissed the crowds, and head to a mountain to pray.

While in the boat, the disciples encountered a terrible storm that threatened their lives. The bible said that they were making way painfully; scholars have studied this part to translate it as the disciples spent 6-9 hours rowing against the winds, only to have covered 3-4 miles towards their destination.

Can you relate to this? In the midst of a hard season, trying to do everything you possibly can to make way, with much effort and time, only to barely make any progress? (Trust me, I can).

And at the fourth watch, which is about 3 am, Jesus made His way to them, walking on water, and relieved them of their troubles.

But my favorite verse is verse 48a: He saw that they were in serious trouble, rowing hard and struggling against the wind and waves.

Jesus SAW them. Just like He sees us. His eyes were locked onto the disciples; He knew the exact troubles they were up against, where they were, the struggles that presented themselves, and He came.

This is consistent with the many scriptures that tell us that the Lord is a present help when we need (Psalm 34:17-18, Psalm 46:1, Isaiah 41:10).

Reading this is so encouraging to me because it's a reminder that He sees me too; He sees me struggling, praying, pressing, working diligently. He sees the troubles i'm up against, the finances, the grief, the _________ (you fill in the blank), and in the midst of that He shows up, WALKS over the very thing that is troubling us and triumph over it.

Reader, Idk what you're up against, or whats been weighing you down lately, but I pray that today you are encouraged that in the midst of your uncertainty you can trust that the one who is certain is right there; He sees, and at the right moment He will deliver.

P.S. I landed my first grant last month for the org! Thank you to everyone who shared their prayers, thoughts, and condolences with me as I navigated the miscarriage, and those who encouraged me to keep doing what God said, knowing that I would reap a harvest if I don't give up, I love love love you guys!

Until Next time!

With Love & Support,

Odaisha

Hey Reader, Today, my heart hurts.I wanted to start this email with Hallelujah, Amen. Praise Him; it is so. But I would be amiss if I didn't express what’s really going on inside. Though I BELIEVE this, I don't feel this. If I didn’t think I was in a wilderness season before, the past couple of weeks proved it. It started with a conversation with my doctor:“Mrs. Calderon, to be 6 weeks pregnant, your HCG levels are only at 331; they should be in the thousands, and we also don't see anything...

Hey Reader, When was the last time you read up on the P31 woman? Now, hear me out. I know in Christian culture she can come off as a cliché, overspoken about or studied, or, on the other end of the spectrum, she seems too far off to duplicate or match up to, so we stay away altogether. (Listen, I found myself on both ends, so you’re not alone). However, the other day I felt myself a bit burnt out and confused. I’ve been striving these past weeks in both life and business; I felt the need to...

Hey Reader, There’s something about July that brings a sense of newness, pace, and expectation. Like the prayers you’ve prayed at the beginning of the year have been sizzling in God’s ear, prepping to meet you in the summer and dramatically change your life right before the colder months roll in (is it just me?). This sense of newness captured me as I begged my husband to allow my daughter and me to become plant moms and get this beautiful hanging porch flower plant (idk if that's what...
