Hey Reader,

When was the last time you read up on the P31 woman? Now, hear me out. I know in Christian culture she can come off as a cliché, overspoken about or studied, or, on the other end of the spectrum, she seems too far off to duplicate or match up to, so we stay away altogether. (Listen, I found myself on both ends, so you’re not alone).

However, the other day I felt myself a bit burnt out and confused. I’ve been striving these past weeks in both life and business; I felt the need to stop and realign myself.

I needed to realign myself with who God designed me to be as a wife, a mom, a friend, a sister … as a woman of God, not who this world wants me to be, and so I picked up Proverbs 31.

With fresh eyes, I’ve seen so many modern-day principles I plucked from this ancient woman of God, and it reminded me of the power of scripture for everyday guidance.

One of those principles was found in vs 14: “She is like the ships of a merchant; she brings her food from afar”.

That thing convicted and encouraged me!

For a while now I’ve been struggling with the quality of food I feed my family. I wanted to do better but felt intimidated by where to start and boggled down by all the other 50million things on my plate; I settled for what I was presenting. Don’t get me wrong, the food I make is delicious and hearty; hubs and baby girl love it, but the question is, is it quality or God-honoring?

The woman in P31 showed her love and devotion to God by sourcing the best quality food and clothes (vs 13), amongst other things, for her family. This passage is not about material gain, aesthetic social media trends, out of reach realty, or only for wives and moms. But it’s timeless spiritual and practical principles for the woman chasing after God.

It serves as a compass, just like the rest of Scripture, useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting, and training in righteousness, so that the servant of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work (2 Timothy 3:16-17).

So what did I do? I looked up the nearest farm/farmers market, and grabbed the best quality fruits, veggies, meat, honey, etc and started!

Nothing Instagramable, grand, perfect, or pretty, but pleasing God.

And sis, I want this same thing for you! This verse is not all Proverbs 31:10-31 has to offer - there are so many other gems you can pull from it; I decided to record an episode about it.
