The real challenge of entrepreneurship

Hey sis,

Last week I celebrated my 31st birthday!!!

I spent the day in the windy city of Chicago like a full tourist with my husband and baby girl. By 10am we were walking through the Chicago Zoo which is FREE by the way if you ever wanted to visit. My baby girl was in absolute awe. Every animal we passed got a big “Hiii!” a wave, or a loud “Wowww!” from her little voice.

It was the sweetest thing to watch.

By around 3pm we were in the heart of the city grabbing ramen, a rose shaped ice cream cone from Amorino, and taking pictures by the Chicago Bean.

And somewhere in that moment it dawned on me again.

THIS is what I asked God for.

Years ago when I dreamed about becoming a business owner it was not just about building something successful. I wanted the flexibility of time. I wanted the ability to pause life on a random weekday and take my family to explore a city. I wanted to create something meaningful with the gifts God gave me while honoring Him through it.

But if I am honest with you I forgot that for a while.

Last year God called me to pivot everything I was doing in business and step into the work I am doing now. And the truth is it has been a stretch. A real stretch.

There have been moments of financial pressure. Moments where things I thought would have happened by now simply have not. Things that used to work no longer seem to. Seasons where my faith in the business journey felt weaker than I expected.

But even in that I have seen the hand of God.

His provision. His guidance. His quiet faithfulness through every step.

And through this season I realized something important.

When I first started The Woman of Power Group and the Call Her Profitable podcast, my heart was to help Christian women build highly profitable, impactful, simple businesses that flow from their gifts and honor God.

That is still deeply on my heart.

But I have realized something else that feels just as important.

Many of us struggle more with trusting God in business than we do with starting the business itself.

The real wrestle is not always strategy. It is faith. It is surrender. It is learning how to walk with God while building something that matters.

So over the next few months you will see a shift in this space.

Yes we will still talk about business. Yes we will still talk about building profitable things with the gifts God gave you.

But we are also going to talk about the heart posture of entrepreneurship.

Trusting God with the vision.

Honest conversations about the highs and lows of the journey.

The kind of woman we must become to carry the vision placed in our hands.

And the faith required to build with God instead of trying to build ahead of Him.

Because if I am honest, I know I cannot be the only one who has felt the quiet tug of war in this journey.

And if you have too, you are in the right place. And I cannot wait to share in the rawness of building with God, with you!

But, Reader, before I go, I want to ask you something.

Where has trusting God in your business journey felt the hardest lately?

Maybe it is the finances.
Maybe it is the waiting.
Maybe it is wondering if you heard Him clearly about the vision.

Hit reply and tell me. I read these and I would genuinely love to hear where you are in the journey.

You are not walking this out alone, sis.

With Love & Support,

Odaisha

Hey Reader, I want to start doing something a little different. Every now and then, I just want to share a quick devotional with you something simple, something real, something that meets you right where you are in your journey with God. So here goes: A New Definition of Success “Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind…” Romans 12:2 There are moments in this journey where things don’t look the way you expected them to. The progress feels slow. The...

Hey sis, This has been one of the hardest financial seasons of my life. Not the kind you post about after it’s over. But the kind you walk through quietly. The kind where you are building what God told you to build… while wondering how you're going to pay your mortgage or car note. And in the middle of it, I felt the Lord gently correct something in my heart. Not my work ethic. Not my obedience. But my reliance. He brought me to Hebrews 13:5 and the phrase “be free from the love of money" has...

Hey sis, Can I ask you something? What do you do when you know God gave you the vision… but the results aren’t matching the obedience? When you’re building, showing up, pitching, praying and still hearing no. When the bills don’t pause just because you’re in a faith season. When you start wondering if maybe you misunderstood Him. I’ve been sitting in that tension lately. Building something that feels bigger than me. Taking steps that stretch me. Doing the work. And still waiting for the...
