A Word of Encouragement During the Government Shutdown

Hey sis,

Yesterday, I felt so burdened by everything happening in our nation with the government shutdown that I had to stop what I was doing to send you a word of encouragement.

I want to remind you of who we serve; a faithful God who is not shaken or moved by shutdowns, layoffs, or lack. He is still on the throne. He is still in control. And He still makes ways out of no way for His people.

If you’ve been impacted by this season, I want you to know that God sees you, He knows you, and He will take care of you. He is your Shepherd who provides, protects, and prepares a table for you — even in uncertain times.

As I prayed and cried out to God about what’s happening, He revealed four things we as believers can do right now to stay encouraged, united in faith, strong in spirit, and even prosper financially.

I talk more about this and in depth on the show — but here’s what the Lord said:

1️⃣ Be consistent in prayer.
Pray for the wellbeing and prosperity of our nation, because as it prospers, so do we. (Jeremiah 29:7, 2 Chronicles 7:14)

2️⃣ Share all things in common.
Even if you’re not directly affected, share in the burden of others. And if you’re in a position to help, share your resources so no one in the body lacks. (Acts 2:44, Acts 4:34)

3️⃣ Invest in yourself.
Use your gifts, skills, and talents to create income or start the business God placed on your heart. Seek Him for what to do, how to do it, and when. (Matthew 25:14–30)

4️⃣ Save.
Like Joseph, it’s wise to store up in seasons of plenty for when rainy days come. I share on the podcast how my husband and I are practicing this (even as a recovering spender… me, not him! 😅). (Genesis 41)

Sis, my prayer for you is that you stay anchored in faith. May you feel peace knowing that God still provides in the midst of chaos and that this will work together for your good.

If this word speaks to you, I want to invite you to listen to this week’s episode of Call Her Profitable:

Hey Reader, I was sitting with God the other day… not journaling, not planning… just sitting. And I started thinking about how easy it is to say we're building a God-centered business, but if we're honest? Sometimes we're just asking Him to sprinkle favor on the plans we already made. That thought checked me. Like, Odaisha… who’s really leading this thing? So I opened my Bible, landed in Matthew 7, and it felt like God gave me a fresh blueprint, not a complicated system, not another to-do...

Hey Reader, You ever felt that tugging from God, like He’s asking you to move, do something, or shift… but you’re not exactly sure what it is? I just came off such a high two weekends ago — we christened our beautiful baby girl 💕. Family came through, love filled the house, and my heart was so full. Family photoshoot after the Christening Then came Monday. I’ve been working on a particular project in my real estate company that’s been leaving me perplexed, a little anxious, a little unsure of...

Hi sis, The other day I was prepping for a hair appointment because I wanted a new style. I had a wig at home that I thought could work, but it needed to be dyed to match my copper hair color. So I got to work. I grabbed the wig, did my research, and went down the YouTube rabbit hole to figure out how to color it. Forty dollars later — developer, dye, gloves, foil, the whole 9 — I spent hours on the process…only for the color not to take. Back to “YouTube University” I went, and that’s when I...
