Hey Reader, We’re already 5 months into the year… how are you really doing? I know I haven’t been in your inbox much lately. I’ve been deep in the weeds of building out this nonprofit agency, and if I’m honest, this season has stretched me. There have been multiple times where I came close to securing a government contract, only for it to fall through. And each time, I found myself going back to God asking Him to open the door, send the opportunity, or make a way. But recently, I felt the Lord gently shifting my heart and showing me that my prayers around this need to change. And maybe you’ve been feeling that way too. Today’s devotional is really the heart behind that shift, and I pray it encourages you wherever you are in your journey with God right now. Seek His Face, Not His Hand“When you seek me with all your heart, you will find me.” — Jeremiah 29:13 So often in our walk with God, especially as entrepreneurs, we can become more focused on God’s hand than His face. We want His hand to provide the money, send the clients, open the doors, bring the marriage, heal the situation, or answer the prayer. And while there is nothing wrong with bringing our desires before God, sometimes we can become so consumed with what we want Him to do that we stop seeking who He is. God never called us to build our lives around outcomes. He called us to build our lives around Him. There is a difference between seeking God for what He can give and seeking God because He is worthy to be known. One pursuit leaves us anxious and disappointed whenever things do not happen the way we hoped. The other keeps our hearts anchored, surrendered, and aligned with His will even in uncertainty. Sometimes God will allow delays, stretching, and unanswered questions because He is trying to draw us closer to His heart, not just His blessings. He wants intimacy with us. He wants trust. He wants us to desire His presence more than the promise. And truthfully, when your heart begins to seek God’s face above everything else, it changes the way you walk through hard seasons. You stop viewing God as a transaction and begin experiencing Him as Father. I pray this encourages you to pause today and ask yourself whether you’ve been more focused on what you want from God or simply being close to Him. Because at the end of the day, His presence will always sustain you more than any answered prayer ever could. Hey sis, Last week I celebrated my 31st birthday!!! I spent the day in the windy city of Chicago like a full tourist with my husband and baby girl. By 10am we were walking through the Chicago Zoo which is FREE by the way if you ever wanted to visit. My baby girl was in absolute awe. Every animal we passed got a big “Hiii!” a wave, or a loud “Wowww!” from her little voice. It was the sweetest thing to watch. By around 3pm we were in the heart of the city grabbing ramen, a rose shaped ice cream...
Hey sis, This has been one of the hardest financial seasons of my life. Not the kind you post about after it’s over. But the kind you walk through quietly. The kind where you are building what God told you to build… while wondering how you're going to pay your mortgage or car note. And in the middle of it, I felt the Lord gently correct something in my heart. Not my work ethic. Not my obedience. But my reliance. He brought me to Hebrews 13:5 and the phrase “be free from the love of money" has...
